What Hati-mo actually does.
No budgeting lectures, no ads, no bank logins. It keeps a fair, shared record of who paid and who owes, and it’s careful with every cent.
Pick the one that matches what happened.
Every example below is a $120 dinner for three. Same bill, different nights.
Everyone ordered about the same. Split it down the middle.
You know exactly what each person spent. Type it in. Hati-mo won’t save until it adds up to $120.00.
Useful for rent and bills you’ve agreed to share unevenly. The percentages have to total 100.
Straight from a scanned receipt. Each person pays for what they had, shared plates get split, and tax and tip follow along.
More than one payer
You covered the Airbnb deposit and Cy paid the rest? Add both payers on the same expense.
The leftover cent
$100 three ways is $33.34, $33.33 and $33.33. Hati-mo shows who gets the extra cent instead of losing it.
Edits leave a trail
Change an expense and the group sees what changed. If two people edit at once, the second one gets asked to review the latest version first.
Tap a line, then tap who had it.
This is the same step you’d do in the app after scanning. Try it: tap “Matcha soda ×2”, give it to Bea, then share the rest.
Sunny Noodle House
Who had Tonkotsu ramen?
Pick one person or several. Shared items split evenly between them.
Final split
In the app, the draft comes from your photo. You can fix any line, the totals are checked against the receipt, and nothing is saved until you confirm.
A short list of payments, and you’re done.
After a long weekend the balances look messy. Hati-mo turns them into a few payments. Mark them paid and watch everyone get back to even.
Balances after the weekend
Suggested payments
Everyone’s even. See you on the next trip.
Partial payments
Pay $20 now and the rest later. Hati-mo shows what’s still left.
No overpaying
If someone types more than they owe, Hati-mo stops it and shows the right amount.
Any way you pay
Note whether it was an e-Transfer, cash, a bank transfer or card. The money moves the way it always has.
One currency per group, picked when you start.
Going to Tokyo? Make the group in yen. Hati-mo knows yen and won have no cents, so it won’t let anyone type ¥1,200.50.
Each group keeps its own currency. Your default is just the starting point for new groups.
Small things that make it easier to live with.
Activity feed
Every expense, edit and payment in one timeline, filterable by type.
Quiet notifications
In-app only, and you choose which ones: expenses, payments or group changes.
