Trust & privacy

Money between friends is personal. We treat it that way.

Here’s what Hati-mo does with your groups and your numbers, in plain words. If anything here stops being true, this page changes first.

Hati-mo never touches your money. It records who paid and who owes. Payments still happen however you already pay each other, so we never ask for card numbers or bank logins.

Only your group can see your group

Expenses, balances and payments are visible to the people in that group and nobody else. This is enforced by the database itself, not just hidden in the app.

Invite links are single-use

A link works for one person and expires after 7 days. Whoever made it can cancel it before then. If you forward it by mistake, it can’t be reused.

Tap twice, it still only counts once

Bad signal, double taps, a retry after a timeout: every expense and payment carries a one-time key, so the same action can’t be recorded twice.

Receipt scans are only ever a draft

When you scan a receipt, the photo goes to an AI service that suggests the items and totals. Nothing gets saved from that draft until you’ve checked it and pressed save yourself.

Exact numbers, every time

Amounts are stored in whole cents and every split is checked on the server, so shares always add up to the total. No floating-point surprises, no missing pennies.

History you can trust

Expenses and payments are reversed, not deleted. Edits are versioned, and if two people change the same expense at once, the second person is asked to look at the latest version first.

Take your data, or leave

Download everything you can see as a file from Settings. You can delete your account once your balances are settled; the group keeps its history, with your name replaced by “Former member.”
